A Community Street Dance is being held at the four-way intersection next to Red Rooster in Polo. Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Pounds speak with Polo Fire Department Auxiliary President Melissa Poje.
The event is being held to raise money for the Polo Volunteer Fire Department. “The Polo Volunteer Fire Department runs solely on dues and donations.” Poje says, “Unfortunately this year has been an all time low for us in collecting those fire dues.” The event is going to have several items to raffle off and a cake walk to increase proceeds. The Muddy River Band will be performing along with D.J. Jeff Wagner.
Poje says there is one major item the auxiliary would like to use this year’s funds for. “Our goal this year is the auxiliary wants to help with making a new kitchen area. The fire department hosts a chili supper every year and we’d like to have it updated before this year’s chili supper.” The Red Rooster and Papas Pizza will be donating a percentage of sales to the department. The free event will run from six to midnight Saturday evening.
