JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Gov. Mike Parson has singed a law that will provide funding to preserve most of Missouri’s historically significant courthouses.
A press release states the bill, SB 196, will allow the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to award grants to preserve, protect or restore county courthouses.
Rep. Peggy McGaugh, who sponsored the bill, said the funding is already in existence but legislation was required to provide authorization for the funds.
SB 196 also contains a provision to create the Rock Island and Trail State Park Endowment Fund, as well as one to change state law dealing with contracts for concessions vendors in state parks.
The bill will become law Aug. 28.
