Press Release from the Governor’s Office
JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon today released their annual Christmas message to the people of Missouri:
“Christmas is a time to reflect on the blessings of faith and family, and to celebrate the gifts of God’s love and grace,” Gov. Nixon said.
“The lessons of Christmas are ones that never grow old. The themes of peace, and of giving from the heart, have been cherished for many generations, and will be treasured for countless more,” said Mrs. Nixon. “As families across the state gather to celebrate the holidays, we should also remember those Missourians whose devotion to duty keeps them apart from their loved ones at this time of year.”
“Many of the dedicated men and women in our nation’s military are away from their families, and are putting themselves in harm’s way to keep us secure,” the Governor said. “We pray that they are able to complete their missions safely, and return home soon.
“Georganne and I extend our best wishes to you and your family for a safe and joyous Christmas season, and for a 2014 that will be filled with peace,” Gov. Nixon said. “May God continue to bless our great state of Missouri.”
