BUCKNER, Mo. — Buckner Police arrested a Grain Valley man following an incident that occurred on August 19th. Max L. Martin, handcuffs-police-generic-arrest-generic-crime-generic25, is charged with 1st degree assault and abuse or neglect of a child.

Sources say Martin allegedly scalded a 7-year-old boy and held his head under water while taking a bath.

Police were called to St. Mary’s hospital after the boy’s doctor observed second and third-degree burns on 30 percent of his body in addition to multiple bruises.

The 7-year-old told investigators Martin had hit him with his fists, and scalded him with water on multiple occasions. Martin admitted to pouring the scalding water on the boy.

Buckner police arrested Martin on Monday, September 13, 2016. His bond has been set at $100,000. Court dates have not yet been scheduled.
