GRAIN VALLEY, MO – A Grain Valley High School student will have the honor of having his artwork displayed in the U.S. capitol building for one year.

Grant Smits was awarded the 1st place prize in the Congressional Art Competition Saturday for piece titled “Redwoods”.  He will attend a reception that officially displays the art at the Capitol.  Smits will also receive a full tuition scholarship to Kansas City Art Institute Pre-College ArtLab and a partial scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA.
