PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. – A change of defense attorneys has caused the delay of the death penalty hearing and trial in a Platte County murder case.

Grayden Lane Denham, 25, of Edgerton, Mo., is charged with the murder of four family members back in February of 2016.

Thursday morning, the attorney for Grayden Denham of Edgerton, filed a motion to withdraw as counsel and John Patrick O’Connor filed notice to represent Denham. Denham was charged with four counts of murder and armed criminal action, one count each of animal abuse, second degree arson, tampering with evidence and stealing a motor vehicle in February of 2016. The charges came after the bodies of four family members were found burned in the yard of the family home in Edgerton.

The next hearing is now scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on April 12, 2017.
