A program in Chillicothe, sponsored by the Grand River Historical Society and the Elks Lodge, will honor veterans this week. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to board member Ron Wilder:
“Due to the fact that it is shortly after the 4th of July holiday, we thought that we would have a free dinner for veterans,”said Wilder,”We’re going to have Ed Allender who is the commander of the American Legion there. He will give us a program explaining the top medals that are given to service people. Then we will see a video featuring a number of interviews with veterans.”
The picnic dinner, which is scheduled for Tuesday, will include hamburgers, hotdogs, sides and drinks. There is no charge for veterans and a $5 fee for all others. The event gets underway at the Elks Lodge in Chillicothe at 6:00 p.m. and those interested in attending are asked to register by calling the museum at 660-646-1341 or Ron Wilder at 660-646-0502.
