The Warrensburg Animal Shelter is holding a Halloween adoption special. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Shelter Manager Sarah Jacob:
Jacob says the reduced prices on black cats and black dogs more than six months of age is because those animals are currently the majority of the shelter, which is common around the United States. “There’s several reasons why people don’t adopt these animals, but the two main reasons that hear is that people are scared of black cats or a big black dog is scary to them, or the superstition that a black cat is bad luck,” said Jacob, “So we’re just trying to give these guys a better option to get adopted.”
The reduced rate is$ 35 for black dogs and $25 for black cats. The standard adoption fee for dogs is $65 and $45 for cats. The special will run through October 31st.
