MISSOURI — Almost a full week of field work allowed Missouri farmers to jump ahead with harvest.
According to the Crop Progress and Condition report from the National Agricultural Statistics Service, 6.4 days of the 7 day week ending on September 17 were suitable for fieldwork. This allowed farmers to harvest 21 percent of corn. Last week, only 12 percent was harvested.
At this time in 2016, 24 percent of corn was harvested.
As for soybeans, 60percent have turned color and 19 percent have dropped leaves. Last week, only 36 percent had turned color and 10 percent dropped leaves.
