accident 3NORTHWEST MISSOURI — Heavy rainfall and slick roads caused multiple accidents in northwest Missouri Tuesday night into Wednesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Thomas Friend, 61, of Eagleville was northbound on I-35 on July 28 when he hydroplaned and traveled off the roadway. Friend struck an embankment and overturned, coming to rest right-side-up.

Friend, who had not been wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries during the crash. He was transported by Harrison County Ambulance to Harrison County Community Hospital.

Highway Patrol records indicated another accident in Gentry County around midnight.

Brian Meyer, 55, of Denver, Missouri was northbound on US-169 near Stanberry when wet roads caused him to hydroplane and travel off the road. Meyer overturned and came to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle.

He was transported by Grand River Ambulance to Northwest Medical Center in Albany for treatment of moderate injuries.
