A 12-foot trailer and 30 gallons of diesel fuel were reported missing from the Zysing Hog Operations Farm in mid-June.
The incident was partially caught on surveillance camera which showed a white, Ford, crew cab F-250 driving onto the lot, and later hitching the trailer to the truck. One worker was present at the time. He believed the subject worked on another part of the farm until he heard the man drive off with the trailer.
According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, the victim said the theft may have been carried out by a former employee.
Two suspects have been taken into custody and one will be in a Saline County courtroom Wednesday morning. Charges were filed against Terry Berwaldt, 37, of rural Waverly. He is facing three felony counts of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and removal of manufacturer’s numbers.
He is currently free on a $10,000 bond but will be in court at 9 a.m. Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
