The Higginsville Board of Aldermen will meet Tuesday night to set the city’s tax rate for the upcoming year. Click to hear KMZU’s Bob Allen talk with City Administrator Lee Barker:
Barker says estimated rates varied greatly due to confusion about one city facility as the library district is split in two between the Higginsville City Library and the Trails Regional Library. The division makes processing data difficult for auditors and assessors alike.
Barker says the board hopes to approve a $0.9941 per $100 tax levy at the hearing that begins at 5:30 in the council chamber at City Hall.
After the special meeting, the board will adjourn to a regular session to approve a maintenance agreement with MoDOT regarding a sidewalk project on Fairground Avenue.
