The Missouri Department of Transportation reopened all lanes on Route 224 in Lafayette County Friday. The route has been closed due to flooding since early summer. According to Area Engineer Mike McGrath, the timing couldn’t have been better. Click to hear McGrath:
McGrath added that the highway passed preliminary inspections.
“Our crews inspected and cleaned this stretch of roadway, and it is ready for traffic,” said Jesse Skinner, MoDOT Maintenance Engineer. “However, the surrounding areas are saturated and one heavy rain could wash debris across the roadway again. We will closely monitor this section for any further problems.”
