EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, MO. – The Missouri Department of Transportation will name Route 10 from Route 69 to the Route 10 Spur in Clay County the “Daniel M. Wilson Memorial Highway”, in memory of Daniel Wilson, former mayor, and long-time, dedicated resident of Excelsior Springs.
Family and friends will celebrate Daniel’s life-long commitment to the Excelsior Springs community during a Memorial Highway Naming Ceremony near North Jesse James Road on Saturday, June 25 at 11:30 a.m. Born in Excelsior Springs, Dan was known for his many years of service in the area, staying very active in the Excelsior Springs civic community. During his time, Dan served as City Clerk for many years, followed by three terms as councilman. He also served as mayor of the city. In addition, Dan was named Citizen of the Year as he was instrumental in the building of the new hospital and water treatment plant. The highway is being named in his honor.
