The Missouri State Highway Patrol is currently holding the eleventh annual Michael L. Newton Toy Drive. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Sergeant Collin Stosberg:

“The drive is designed to bring smiles to the faces of children who are forced to spend the Christmas season in the hospital,” said Stosberg. “All the donations to the toy drive will be delivered to KU Medical Center Pediatric Unit and Ronald McDonald House. And troopers will personally deliver the toys to those children during the month of December.”

The event is held in memory of Trooper Michael L. Newton.

“Mike Newton’s death left a huge void in the lives of his family and friends and coworkers. And it’s just been proven to be a great way to remember Trooper Newton and what he meant to the community there in Lafayette County, and Troop A in all.”

The toy drive runs through December 12th. Dropoff locations include the Troop A Headquarters in Lee’s Summit, all Krispy Creme Doughnut stores, and at the KMZU studio, which is located at 102 N. Mason St. in Carrollton.
