BATES COUNTY, Mo. — A crash in Bates County sent a driver from Butler to an area hospital Monday morning.

According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, troopers responded to State Highway 52 westbound at County Road 12001 around 5:50 a.m. Monday to reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, investigators determined that a vehicle driven by Robert J. Doughtery, 18, struck a horse in the roadway.

Doughtery reported minor injuries as a result of the collision and sought medical treatment on his own accord.
