House of HopeWELLINGTON, Mo. — House of Hope is hosting the 18th Annual Charity Gala Saturday, October 17th.

The House of Hope is an organization created to provide support and encouragement to survivors of domestic violence. The organization has an emergency shelter in Lafayette County, as well as services in Jackson, Ray and Carroll counties.

“We have, of course, our emergency shelter,” said Crystal Milligan, advocate and volunteer coordinator. “We have outreach … we have children support groups. We have teen support groups. We go to court; we have legal advocacy. We do parenting classes and supervised visitation …”

Between July 2012 and July 2013, the House of Hope helped 229 adults and 238 children. The House of Hope offers a wide range of services for survivors and their families, all of which will benefit from the 17th annual Charity Gala.

Milligan said this year’s event will be different than in the past.

“We are having a ‘Denim and Diamonds’ … so we’re asking you to put on your boots and bling and join the House of Hope in raising awareness for domestic and sexual violence,” Milligan said.

The fundraiser event includes appetizers, dinner and desert, as well as an auction event. The Gala is Saturday, October 17th in Lexington at the VFW.
