A town hall meeting on the Huntsville Post Office was held this week. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Manager of Post Office Operations for Central Missouri Cyndi Bolles:
The United States Postal Service made clear Tuesday their intentions to keep the Huntsville Post Office in operation. Bolles said they only ever planned to shut it down if residents in the area requested its closure. However, the hours will be reduced.
The Huntsville Post Office is currently open 6.5 hours a day. This will be reduced to six hours by lengthening lunch breaks. “They’re going to stay open, actually, 30 minutes later than they presently stay open,” said Bolles.
The United States Postal Service expects to save about $500 million per year with similar changes nation-wide.
