UPDATE 01/11/2019, 6:14 a.m. — In an amended court filing Thursday, Shade was charged with burglary, statutory sodomy and sexual abuse in the second degree.
He was arraigned in Macon County Thursday and requested a change of judge. The motion will be taken under consideration by the court at Shade’s next appearance Tuesday, January 15.
MACON COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Columbia is charged with burglary after an alleged sexual assault in December of last year.
According to a probable cause statement filed in a Macon County courtroom, a resident at a residential care facility in Macon reported a sexual assault December 22, 2018.
The victim told authorities a man matching the description of Jason Ray Shade, 39, came into her room and sexually assaulted her.
Staff at the facility informed investigators they had seen Shade leaving the victim’s room the night of the alleged assault.
Assault charges were not filed by prosecutors, however Shade now faces a felony allegation of burglary in the first degree.
Shade is in custody at the Macon County Jail, held on $50,000 cash-only bond. He is set to be arraigned Thursday morning.
