Update: The Independence Police Department located Kimberly Wohlford, 13, Friday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m. She is reportedly safe and back in the custody of the treatment facility. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk to Public Information Officer Tom Gentry:
“About 3:30 this afternoon, after much foot work and a lot of calling and speaking with people, we were able to track an area where she might be frequenting,” said Gentry,” We did some surveillance and were able to spot Kimberly, apprehend her, and took her into custody.”
Wohlford walked away from a facility on Wednesday afternoon where she was being treated for mental disorders. The young girl, who is bi-polar, is reported to be safe.
Authorities in Independence are searching for a 13-year-old girl who has reportedly been missing since Wednesday afternoon. According to officials, Kimberly Wohlford was being treated for mental disorders at a facility on North Emery when she walked away from the area and has not been seen since. Wohlford is 5’4″, 115 pounds, has light brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black and white checkered vest over a black and white shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes.
