At only 14 years old, Michaela Ford of Independence has been chosen as a Missouri finalist in the National American Miss Pageant.  Ford, an upcoming 9th grader at Fort Osage High School, initially became involved in the competition when she was nominated the Fort Osage National Junior Honor Society.  Being a finalist in the competition means Michaela, accompanied by her parents Mike and Pam Ford, will be heading to Columbia, Missouri to compete in the Junior Teen section of the competition, which is being held on June 25-26th.

Michaela is described as an all American girl.  She enjoys being involved in school, soccer, singing, helping others, and doing her part to live a greener lifestyle through various recycling efforts.  “Michaela is very excited about this opportunity,” said Pam Ford.

The National American Miss Pageant is based on inner-beauty, as well as, poise and presentation and offers an, “All-American spirit of fun for family and friends.”  The competition puts emphasis on the importance of young girls gaining self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship, and setting and achieving personal goals.
