LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo.- An Independence woman has been identified following a fatal two-vehicle collision in Lee’s Summit, Mo., Saturday, September 9, 2017.

According to a release from the Lee’s Summit Police Department, at approximately 4:15 p.m., emergency crews were called to the area of NE Lienweber Road and NE Todd George Road for a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation showed that a van traveling westbound on Lienweber Road failed to stop at a stop sign and upon entering the intersection was struck by a northbound truck. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to spin in the roadway ejecting three occupants from the van.

The van reportedly contained a total of twelve occupants, four adults and eight children. Tracy J. Pycior, 36, of Independence, Mo., a passenger in the van, was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. Eight occupants of the van as well as one occupant from the truck were transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lee’s Summit Police Department.
