(UPDATE: 12/20/16 8:55 p.m.)- Carmelita Wilson, 39, appeared in Benton County Circuit Court yesterday, December 19, 2016, for a scheduled preliminary hearing. 

Wilson and her attorney filed a written waiver of preliminary hearing. The court accepted the waiver and ordered Wilson bound over to the Circuit Court of Benton County. 

Wilson’s charges felony assualt in the first degree, felony armed criminal action, and felony tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree. An arraignment for Wilson is scheduled January 17, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

 

(UPDATE: 12/02/16 1:30 p.m.)- Carmelita Wilson, 39, appeared in front of a judge with counsel Tuesday, November 29, 2016. A request for bond deduction was denied and a preliminary hearing was scheduled.

Earlier this month, Benton County Sheriff’s Dept says Wilson’s mother allowed her to visit her two children, when Wilson allegedly beat her mother and fled with the children in her mother’s vehicle.

Wilson’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 19, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton County Circuit Court.

 

 

BENTON COUNTY, Mo.– After an Independence woman allegedly abducted her two children, prompting an Amber Alert, she pleaded not guilty to three felony charges.

Carmelita Wilson, 39, is charged with first degree assault, armed criminal action, and tampering with a motor vehicle.

Benton County Sheriff’s Dept says Wilson’s mother allowed her to visit her two children, when Wilson allegedly beat her mother and fled with the children in her mother’s vehicle.

An Amber Alert was issued for the two children, and Wilson was later apprehended after a police chase.

She pleaded not guilty Tuesday and is scheduled for a hearing November 29, 2016. Bond is currently set at $250,000
