A family pet ferret is responsible for the severe damage of an infant boy’s hands. The Grain Valley Police Department was called to the 200 block of Young Street around 2:40 a.m. Monday to assist the Central Jackson County Fire Department with the animal bite. The investigation continues.

On 01/10/2011 at approximately 0236 hours, the Grain Valley Police Department responded to 200 block of Young Street, in regards to an agency assist with the Central Jackson County Fire Department reference an animal bite involving an infant.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a 4 month old boy had severe damage to both his hands made by the family’s pet ferret. It was latter determined that several fingers were removed by the animal. Investigation is ongoing with the Grain Valley Police Department and the Jackson County Prosecutors’ office.
