A Sedalia man is in the hospital after striking two separate vehicles Wednesday night in Greene County. He also faces serious charges as a result.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Brett Allen, 26, was eastbound on Highway 160 when his vehicle crossed the centerline north of Springfield and struck a westbound vehicle driven by Gary Scott, 79, of Greenfield, in the left front side. Scott was uninjured.

The Allen vehicle then continued eastbound and struck a vehicle driven by Jessica Gum, 27, of Willard, head-on.

Allen suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Gum suffered serious injuries and passenger Hayden Hopkins, 6, also of Willard, sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to Cox South Hospital for treatment.

Brett Allen is now charged with two counts of alleged felony vehicular assault and one count each of DWI and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

He was released to the care of the hospital.
