PoliceINDEPENDENCE, Mo. — The Independence Police Department is investigating a death that happened Friday evening on a railroad track.

According to the Independence Police Department, officers were called to the scene around 8:15 Friday evening after a person believed to be lying down on or near a railroad track was struck by a train and killed.

Police say the victim is believed to be a white male, however the identity is unknown. Police called the Jackson County Medical Examiner to the are of W Southside Blvd and 23rd St to take the body.
