The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department in the hunt for a man suspected of robbing a bank in Blackwater on Wednesday afternoon.  Authorities said the suspect entered the Alliant Bank on Main Street shortly before 4:00 p.m. and demanded money.  He allegedly displayed a gun to a teller and fled the scene on foot with a “substantial amount of money,” according to a press release from the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect is described as a white male between 5’10″ and 6′ feet tall.  He was wearing a light colored button-down shirt, khaki cargo shorts, sunglasses, and a dark baseball cap.

Authorities believe he left the area in an unknown vehicle.  It had been previously reported that the vehicle was a green passenger car with Flordia license plates, but a description was not provided in the news release.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
