UPDATE: – 1/20 – Formal charges have been filed as part of a murder investigation begun Saturday in Johnson County.

According to the county Sheriff, prosecutors have charged Jason M. Jones, 39, of Kansas City, KS with the shooting death of Holden resident, Robert Horton, 41. Law enforcement responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Market Street Saturday afternoon. Formal charges, filed Sunday against Jones, include 12 allegations, including 1st degree murder, and 1st degree burglary.

Court dates are pending.

 

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo.— (update 01/19/2020 21:00) In a social media post, Holden Police Department released information about an ongoing homicide investigation. According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department, it, along with the Holden Police Department responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Market Street in Holden Saturday, Jan. 18. Responding officers say, the victim died and the shooter fled prior to their arrival. Law enforcement later apprehended the shooter who remains on a 24-hour investigative hold. The county says more information will be released as the investigation progresses.

 

BELTON, Mo. – An investigation is underway after a fatal shooting in Holden today, Saturday, January 18, 2020. A KMZU listener called to tell us that a man was shot and killed at 703 South Market Street around 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The caller said the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of the woman who lives at the residence. Police reportedly have a suspect in custody.
