A Richmond man, who was charged in connection to a deadly accident in 2011, appeared in a Ray County courtroom on Tuesday morning. Robert Aliff, 40, was allegedly driving while intoxicated when he crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle. Aliff’s passenger, Bruce Sodders, 59, was killed in the crash.
Aliff has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, and driving while revoked. His lawyers filed a motion for bond reduction last week, but the request was denied on Tuesday. Aliff’s bond remains at $25,000, cash only. A preliminary hearing has also been scheduled in the case. It is tentatively set for Jan. 15.
