The jury trial in the case of a Trenton man was rescheduled during recent proceedings. Jameson Read, 25, faces charges in Grundy County of murder, armed criminal action, abandonment of a corpse, assault, and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.

Authorities allege Read shot John Vencill, 52, multiple times before dumping his body and car in a pond in a rural area of the county in July of 2013. The case was scheduled to go before a jury later this month, but has now been reset for a four-day period begininning on the 28th of April.

Read’s attorney also filed a notice on Thursday of his intention to rely on defense of mental disease or defect excluding responsibility.
