Update: The court heard testimony from the victim, as well as her friend and grandmother this afternoon.  They have recessed for the day and the trial will continue in the Ray County Courtroom on Thursday morning.  KMZU will once again have a reporter live on the scene at the courthouse and will provide updates throughout the day.

Update:  The jury selection is over and Politte has waived sentencing by a jury which means the court will assess his punishment if he is found guilty.  The victim, who was 17 at the time of the alleged crime, has taken the stand.  Politte is accused of dragging the teen into a wooded area in Carrollton and sexually assaulting her and hitting her in the head with a flashlight in the early morning hours of June 10, 2011.  We have a reporter on the scene in the courthouse and will continue to provide updates as they are available.

A two-day jury trial for a Carrollton man gets underway Wednesday morning.  Charles Politte,24, is facing  multiple charges including forcible rape, forcible sodomy, second-degree assault, armed criminal action and kidnapping.  Politte’s trial  is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in a Ray county courtroom.
