KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man was sentenced in federal court Monday for distributing child pornography over the Internet. Christopher Michael Donovan, 39, was sentenced after pleading guilty in October of 2014 to the charge of distributing child pornography over the Internet.
Donovan contacted an undercover FBI task force officer in an Internet chat room and sent images and movies of child pornography. The incident, which occurred April 19, 2012, included two images with toddlers and one involved the sexual abuse of a 6-year-old boy, reportedly drugged.
Kansas City law enforcement searched Donovan’s apartment and found a storage device that held 40 movies and 13 images of child pornography. Donovan admitted to downloading and saving the pornographic material for several years, up until his computer was taken by drug dealers.
Donovan was sentenced to six years in federal prison without parole. He will be subject to federal and state sex offender registration. He must keep the registration current and notify the state sex offender registration agency of any changes to name, residency, employment or other relevant information.
