KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The 26-year-old man who was shot and killed by a Clay County Sheriff’s deputy Monday has been identified by Kansas City Police.

The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department, is investigating the incident and identified Cody R. McClintick as the man who died during the officer involved shooting incident in a parking lot of a Motel 6.  A fight between McClintick and the deputy broke out while the officer was conducting a vehicle investigation.

McClintick previously ran into law enforcement with the Chillicothe Police Dept. in 2014 and most recently in Brookfield on drug related instances.
