KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A former two-time U.S. pairs champion in figure skating is dead and his sister says he committed suicide.

Kansas City police confirmed they found John Coughlin’s body on Friday. The 33-year-old skater and TV commentator had his eligibility in the sport restricted by SafeSport on Thursday. SafeSport is a recent independent body that was launched to investigate claims of misconduct and abuse. Coughlin told USA Today on January 7th that the allegations against him were not true.

Details of those allegations have not been made public.
