SEDALIA, MO. (AP) — A Kansas man is charged with second-degree murder in the death of a man during the weekend in Sedalia.

Daniel Fernandez, of Kansas City, Kansas, is accused of shooting Robert Fox Jr. to death during an altercation inside a car on Saturday.

Investigators determined Fox owed money to someone in Kansas City, Kansas, that stemmed from illegal activity, according to Sedalia police.

Fox was shot in the chest during fight inside the car, according to court documents. He was able to get out of the car and was found dead on the street.

A witness identified Fernandez as the driver of the car and he was arrested earlier this week in Overland Park, Kansas.

He was also charged with armed criminal action, second-degree kidnapping and unlawful use of a weapon. Online court records do not name an attorney for Fernandez.
