MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Kansas State university confirms the departure of associate head basketball coach Dalonte Hill for a similar position at Maryland under new Terrapins coach Mark Turgeon.
Hill is known as a top recruiter who came to Kansas State in 2006 after working as an assistant at North Carolina-Charlotte.
He’s credited with persuading standout Michael Beasley to sign with Kansas State, where he set several single-season records in 2007 before moving on to the NBA.
Hill was believed to be one of the nation’s highest paid assistant coaches, making $423,750 a year with the potential for as much as $80,000 in bonuses.
Kansas State confirmed his departure in a news release Wednesday afternoon.
