Kay Frances Chaffin, 80, of Richmond, died Monday, August 10, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Kay was born on July 8, 1940, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Ray and Ethel Sadie (Chandler) Smith. She was first united in marriage to William E. Holey, III, of Lawrence, KS, in 1958; he preceded her in death in 2004. She was then united in marriage to Kenneth L. Chaffin of Gladstone on January 9, 1982; he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: three sons: William E. Holey, IV, of Camden, Richard D. Holey and John M.L. Holey, both of the home; daughter, Terylea (George) Hale of Richmond; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren: Robert Allen (Dawn) Chaffin, Darlene D. Petri, both of Marshfield, WI, Donald R. Chaffin of Kearney, and Sandra (Fred) Darwimple of Union, TN; eight step grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, brother, Kenny Smith, sister, Edna Marie Creek, and a step grandson.
Kay was a housewife and homemaker and of the Christian faith. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and bowling. Kay loved her family, especially her grandkids. She also loved her dogs.

Visitation with graveside services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2020, with visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, with graveside services to follow at 11:00 A.M. in Richmond Memory Gardens.
