KANSAS CITY, Mo – A longtime member of the KC Crips gang has been sentenced to a 30 year prison term without parole, Thursday, February 11, 2016, after being convicted at trial during August of last year.
Kansas City resident, Rashawn Long, 35, had been convicted of the murder of Michael Birks in 2001, serving a prison sentence which ended in the summer of 2013. Later that fall, Long was taken into custody after police officers removed a Glock semi-automatic handgun from a vehicle belonging to Long. Also found in the vehicle was a small amount of buphedrone, a drug similar to meth, a stun gun, and pepper spray.
Long is also alleged to have been involved in three other murders since he was released from his first prison term, though he has not yet been convicted in court.
