Linda Crider, Executive Director of the American Lung Association, states they are looking forward to holding this year’s Climb in a new place.

“There are 63 of these events that happen from coast to coast. It is the inaugural Fight for Air Climb at One Kansas City Place, so we’re extremely excited to be bringing this new event to the Kansas City area,” Crider said. “[This climb] is to really have our participants get that feeling of what it’s like to really challenge your lungs as those affected with lung disease who are challenged with every breath they take every moment of their lives.”

Fight for Air Climb has been around for more than a decade, and has raised over $40 million to support the American Lung Association’s mission. Last year, more than 30,000 people from 63 Climb events across the country raised more than $8 million dollars in research funds.

“Lung cancer kills more people than breast, colon, prostate, and pancreatic cancers combined. Yet, research is vastly underfunded,” Crider stated. “So, the participation of the community, first responders, and local area businesses in events like this really make a difference toward finding new life-saving treatments, early detection techniques, and clinical trials.”

Those wanting to participate may register by calling 913-353-9166. Registration will also be open on site the day of the event. The cost for registering on event day will be $155, which includes both registration and fundraising totals.

2016 Fight for Air at One Kansas City Place will begin at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016.
