A Kansas City man has received a life sentence for drug trafficking charges. According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, 43 year old Rasheed G. Shakur, aka: “Charles G. Cook”, was sentenced to life plus five years without parole for his role in a multi-million dollar trafficking conspiracy that included charges of money laundering and firearm offenses.
Shakur, along with 30 other individuals, were charged in connection with a massive operation responsible for distributing marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy between 2004 and 2009. Of those involved, 27 have pleaded guilty, 1 is incarcerated in Mexico, and 2 are still at large.
The court ordered Shakur to forfeit to the government $2,990,000, three residential properties, $90,445 that was seized by law enforcement officers, $7,788 held in a credit union account, and two vehicles: a 2002 Dodge pickup truck and a 2007 Audi.
