CARROLLTON, Mo. (Press Release)- Power outages and storm damage swept through the area last night in a series of high-wind gusts and lightning. KCP&L’s outage map shows multiple affected counties and has issued a statement as of 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017.

We continue to restore power after this morning’s storm, which brought with it high winds up to 80 mph and lightning. Widespread damage included broken poles, tree limbs falling into lines, and downed wire.

At the height of the storm, we had approximately 35,000 customers without power. Our crews worked through the night and continue working today to address these outages. They have restored power to more than 70% of affected customers. Currently, we have approximately 10,000 customers remaining without power on 750 outages. We also have crews traveling from Oklahoma and Colorado to assist.

As we restore power, the safety of our crews and customers remains our top priority. Please stay away from any downed power lines you may see.

We appreciate your patience. If you are without electricity, please report an outage at your home or business. You may also view current power outages to determine the scope of any outages in your area.
