A six car pileup near Kearney Thursday night sent one person to the hospital and shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 for several hours.  The accident occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m., less than a mile south of the Kearney exit.

According to the Highway Patrol, Martin Jacobs, 60, of Liberty, rear ended a vehicle driven by Edward Tomlin, 16, of Kearney, as both were traveling north on I-35.  A tractor-trailer driven by Jesus Aguirre, 42, of Aurora, Illinois, then collided with Tomlin’s car and a third vehicle driven by Rosa Morgan, 66, of Kansas City.  Investigators said that impact sent the Tomlin vehicle into a truck operated by Don Kent, 49, of Kearney.  John Grussing, 49, of Bloomington, Illionis, was hit by flying debris from the collisions.

Tomlin was transported to Liberty Hospital with minor injuries.  No one else was hurt in the accident.
