If it is for disaster relief or just removing limbs from trees around your home safety should be your top concern while using a chain saw.
Click to hear KMZU’s Brad Hartman talk with University of Missouri Extension Safety Expert Bob Schultheis:
Schultheis says never start a chain saw while holding it up.
Schultheis also says to select a saw fitting your needs, wear protective clothing and don’t operate a saw above shoulder level.
He also warns of “kickback.”
Kickback is when your saw chain catches debris and sends it toward the worker or others.
