KMZU’s Sandi Wilson spoke to Gallatin Theater League President Tammy Gay about two events coming up at the Courter Theater in Gallatin.
The first of the two events is the Missoula Children’s Theater presentation of Blackbeard the Pirate. This is a play the MCT is putting on using the talents of local children. There is an audition for the play on Monday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m. for children ages 6-15. Interested participants do not need to have any prepared materials. MCT is looking to fill 60 roles.
Every child who gets a part will have at least one line and there will be a song and simple dance routine. Costumes will be provided. The play lasts approximately 45 minutes.
The cast list will be posted after the audition that day and rehearsals will begin the same day and run through July 18th. Performances will be Friday July 18th and Saturday July 19th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for everyone and are available at the Courter Theater Tuesday July 15th through Friday July 18th from 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. and prior to shows.
The second thing happening at the Courter Theater, in conjunction with the Blackbeard play, is an Improv Workshop. This class is free and very informative and helps children who would like to learn to act without a script or become better at public speaking.
There are two different workshops. The first is for youths ages 14-20 and will be Wednesday July 16th at 6:30 p.m. The second workshop is for children ages 9-13 years on Thursday July 17th at 2:45 p.m.
You do not need to be in the play to attend the workshops which will be taught by college students who are theater/drama majors.
