JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The Missouri General Assembly passed legislation concerning area cities that are to be added to a list of entities authorized to impose a transient guest tax on hotels and motels to promote tourism in those locations.

Representative Glen Kolkmeyer, representing the 53rd district, says Higginsville, Lexington, and Odessa in Lafayette County now have the authority to impose the guest tax to supply a revenue stream toward tourism if the issue is approved by voters in each city.
