Representatives from MoDOT paid a visit to the Lafayette County Commission Tuesday morning. Click to hear KMZU’s Bob Allen talk with Lafayette County Presiding Commissioner Harold Hoflander:
Hoflander says the department is transferring the maintenance of the completed Highway 13 interchange to the city of Lexington and the County. The commission did not sign the deed as an agreement signed in March said that MoDOT would complete an over-layment of current roadways. That work is scheduled to start this week.
In other MoDOT news, the county received a letter about defective steel beams that may have been used in some bridge projects. Hoflander says three bridges have been identified that may utilize the beams, however, the issues appear to be with welded structures and the bridges in question are not long enough to have welds in them.
Commissioners also discussed a possible maintenance contract for Lafayette Hall during their session.
