The Lafayette County Farm Bureau along with the Santa Fe Agri-Leaders have partnered up to present a legislative Farm Tour. On September 19th, 2013 several National, State, and Local lawmakers will gather to get an education on agriculture. The day will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with lunch served at 11:30 a.m. Legislators and will tour the Heins Dairy Farm and also GR Farms, both in Higginsville. Lafayette County Farm Bureau Volunteer for Education and Promotion, says the goal is to to educate our policy makers on what is done in agriculture, specifically grain and livestock production for this event.

“This will not be a policy driven event,” said Riekhof.”If we can get more people to the farm to understand what we do, they will understand where their food comes from, and the immense detail that we use as farmers to grow a safe abundant food supply for them.”
