Update 2:45 p.m.:  We have received confirmation from the Santa Fe Elementary School in Waverly that normal activity has resumed there this afternoon.  Superintendent Gini Barnett tells  KMZU that deputies have determined the shots were from hunters in the area. 

The Santa Fe Elementary School in Waverly reportedly went on lock-down shortly after 2:00 Friday afternoon.  According to scanner traffic, repeated gun shots were heard in an area north east of the school and officials have taken preventative steps.

Law enforcement officers are currently searching the perimeter.    KMZU has made contact with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and was told they have no comment at this time.
