VERSAILLES, Mo.- The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting the Versailles Police Department in a suspicious death investigation involving a 29-year-old male victim.
According to a release from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, August 12, around 7:00 p.m., the Versailles Police Department was called to an address on W Williamson Street in regards to a male subject with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers found Justin Wittrock, 29, deceased from a single gunshot wound.
The girlfriend of Wittrock, Angela Keefe, 30, who was residing at the same residence as Wittrock, was taken into custody and charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
Keefe, who was convicted in 2010 of involuntary manslaughter/reckless homicide in Illinois, remains in custody at the Morgan County Detention Center on a $35,000 cash or surety bond.
An autopsy on Wittrock was scheduled for Tuesday morning but results have yet to be released.
Formal charges were filed in Morgan County Circuit Court against Keefe for felony unlawful possession of a firearm and an arraignment is scheduled to take place this morning at 9:00 a.m.
