A pair of Livingston County residents were honored by the sheriff’s department Tuesday for their contributions to the community. The department received a number of nominations for their 4th annual Outstanding Student-Citizenship awards. Michael Rounkles, of Utica, and Colton Reeter, of Chillicothe each received a $1,000 savings bond. If they can keep even one person out of jail, according to Sheriff Steve Cox, it is worth it. “Our goal is to bring recognition and honor to those who consistently demonstrate positive leadership for others,” said Cox.
Cox said this year’s winners were judged on a number of criteria.
Rounkles, a student at Southwest Livingston County R-1 School, was nominated by his counselor. Reeter was suggested by Chillicothe Fire Chief Darrell Wright.
